In today’s interview, we took the opportunity to talk to Jonas Ewerlöf, Sales Manager at Beckhoff Automation Sweden. Beckhoff is one of the exhibitors at Scanautomatic 2024 and we were curious to learn more about their product news and how they are meeting the challenges of the automation industry. Hi Jonas! Why did you choose to participate as an exhibitor at Scanautomatic?

– Scanautomatic is the definitive trade fair in Sweden when it comes to automation. The fair has always delivered according to our wishes in terms of the right people and interest in our products. The fact that Processteknik also runs in parallel made our choice even more obvious this year – we chose to exhibit at both fairs because our customers are active in both sectors.

What services/products do you offer?

– Beckhoff builds open automation systems with PC–based control technology. The product range covers the main areas of industrial PCs, I/O and fieldbus components, drive technology, automation software and cabinetless automation as well as hardware for industrial image processing. New Automation Technology is the name for our universal and industry–independent control and automation solutions, which are used globally in a variety of applications – from CNC machine tools to smart building control.

One of our latest innovations, the MX System, is a real blockbuster. The MX System brings all the functions together: I/O, IPC, drive, relay, TwinSAFE and motion on the modular baseplate – giving you automation without a control cabinet.

What challenges do you see your customers facing and how are you meeting these needs?

– Customers in the automation industry often face the challenge of keeping up with rapid technological developments, which includes adapting to new standards and updating existing equipment and software.

We are always close to our customers and at the forefront of modern and future–proof technology.

– We also recognise that many of our customers are looking for skills, but that it is difficult to find the right people. Through a unique collaboration with a third party, we have launched concrete actions not only to solve the skills shortage but also support education initiatives and offer hands–on training programmes. The aim is to help our customers strengthen their technical skills in industrial automation and make the transition to advanced automation solutions smoother.

What benefits have you experienced by being part of Scanautomatic?

– Since Scanautomatic is a reference event, it’s always creating new contacts. Our experience from previous years is that the right people visit the fair and have a solid interest in automation and of course in our products. There are always interesting discussions with old and new faces during the fair days.
