Traditional automation solutions and AI on show at Scanautomatic and ProcessTeknik

AI, deeptech and industry-leading exhibitors attracted visitors to Scanautomatic and ProcessTeknik on 8-10 October at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. Despite a tough market situation, both fairs showed positive results – and very satisfied exhibitors.

Artificial intelligence could change the future of automation and process industry. This was clearly demonstrated by the great interest in Scanautomatic and ProcessTeknik, which focused on this groundbreaking development. There was a unique breadth of exhibiting companies in automation and process technology, showing everything from traditional solutions to AI.

Successful business

Stefan Engelbrektsson, the business manager for both fairs, reports:

“Given the declining market situation in Europe’s automation and process industry, which reached a trough in 2023, I am very pleased with this year’s results. We’ve seen that the industry is willing to meet, discuss and take on the challenges of the future here at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. For example, several new exhibitors told us that they had already done business on the second day that covered their entire investment in the fair.”

A number of exhibitors testify to fruitful meetings and doing successful business.

“This was the first time we exhibited and showed our self-developed collaborative robot in desktop class. We sold the robot we brought to the stand on the first day of the fair to a customer we had never met before. The visitors were of high quality, we received lots of hot leads during the fair and will return as an exhibitor in 2026,” said Wei Du, Sales Manager, DOBOT Europe GmbH.

The AI scene is a crowd-puller

Throughout the fair, four different free stage programmes offered visitors and exhibitors the chance for skills development. The AI stage was one of them, focusing on AI, deeptech, machine learning and digital transformation, with Ny Teknik, Microsoft and RISE as partners.

“The AI stage attracted a large audience. Many of the sessions were completely full, which shows a great deal of interest in how AI can be integrated into industrial processes and change the future of automation and process technology,” says Stefan.

The intention is to make the Ny Teknik AI Arena, which in addition to the stage presentations also included AI workshops and other features, a recurring fixture in the programme.

A brighter future for the sectors

Many exhibitors, both in the automation and process industries, emphasise that the fairs allow them to reach both established and new customers and create valuable business opportunities.

“We have received very positive feedback and are seeing increased interest in the next Scanautomatic and ProcessTeknik. Several exhibitors have expressed their willingness to come back, which indicates a stabilising market and that our fairs are perceived as central to strengthening the industry,” Stefan concludes.

Scanautomatic and ProcessTeknik will next be held on 20-22 October 2026, at the Swedish Exhibition Centre.

Here’s what exhibitors thought of Scanautomatic and ProcessTeknik 2024:

Ida Wendel, Marketing Manager, Murrelektronik
“We had a huge amount of interest at this year’s show and had an incredible amount of people on the stand! Our main focus was on Vario-X, a decentralised and flexible automation platform, which we launched on the market this year. The response has been overwhelming! It has also resulted in many leads.”

Robert Persson Östlund, Sales Manager, AxFlow
“We had an incredible turnout at the stand! At this year’s ProcessTeknik, we showcased the breadth of our expertise in moving liquids, industrial pumps and hygienic pumps. We met all our important customers, but also a lot of new ones. It feels very good!”

Peter Nilsson, Technical Sales Representative, Pump Technology
“This year’s fair has been beyond all expectations. We have had a lot of visitors. Since we have a wide range of suppliers in the field of liquid, air and gas technology, we can always find the best solution for the customer’s specific needs. We have received several interesting leads and are very pleased.”

Scanautomatic and ProcessTeknik welcomed 7 306  trade visitors and 250 exhibitors.
